平和観音

大谷観音（大谷平和観音）

大谷石採掘場跡にある平和観音。岩壁に彫られた大きな観音像は高さ27m。あの特撮番組、ウルトラマン80にも登場したことがあるそうです。

戦後間もなく世界平和を祈った一人の石工が刻み始めたこの観音立像。広大な大谷石の岸壁にすべて手彫りで作られた大谷石のランドマークです。
階段で展望台まで登ることができ、展望台からは街並みが一望できます。
